as the title says, i have about $200 CND to spend and wanted to know if u have any suggestions for a good video card around that price
am gona use it mostly to play games(battle field, WoW,baldurs gate, Auto assult etc) and do some graphic engineering such as inventor and autocad

the card i have currently is ATI radeon X600 hypermemory pci express( with TV out) with 255 memory <---- not that bad of a card

also will i need a better power supply for this card(read on these forums that it is connected to video card), i have no idea how to check my current powersupply(assume its not the main power supply that the comp is hooked to) or how upgrade it lol

any suggestions? i think the nvidia 6800 serious would fit my budget but there are sooo many series of em hard to choose which one is good

Apperciate ur feed back! :D

PS my mobo is based on pci express

The 6800GS is a good card!, I have it in my system and it is easily overclockable! also has 12 pixel pipelines:) should be a good purchase if you have the money for it:)

Let me suggest a much better alternative if you ask me :

THE NEW 7600GT will beat the 6800GS hands down. It's what you should be looking at. Forget the 6800GS and go for this. You will not regret it. I know the price is slightly over $200 CDN but it would be worth the investment.

JAN :D

i thought the 6800GS would still be better then the 7600GT cause the 6800 has 256 bit and the 7600 has 128bit.

Damn I didn't know about this card:eek: me thinks I might be doing a bit of upgrading soon;) :D
Think im gonna have to get a better psu aswell tho! its only 348w current which is being stressed atm with this card

Also part of my question was about psu, any thread on this so i can learn about what it is and when i need to upgrade it?
my comp is brand new from dell but i think psu will be different for different video cards?

Ive got a dell atm and i also thought about upgrading my PSU and then read that Dell have a non standard ATX design, so that means that if you upgrade the PSU (to a non Dell PSU) you will fry your motherboard and anything in it..., im not sure if this is the case now, but i would read this... Dell proprietary (non-standard) ATX design.

EDIT: if you done want to read all of this from the link, here is a quote

"But mixing either a new ATX board with the Dell supply or a new ATX supply with the existing Dell board is a recipe for silicon toast. How do you like your fried chips, medium or well done?"
