Looking for a KeyLogger

I am looking for a keylogger (one preferably under $30) so I can keep track of all activity on my computer. Anyone have any experience with keyloggers?

Is a hardware or software keylogger preferable? I would also like to be able to use this keylogger with a Linux operating system or Windows.

Any advice would be appreciated.

As long as you have a good reason...

I know of two types of keyloggers, software and hardware, one that you plug your keyboard into which plugs into the motherboard and most people probably wouldn't notice.

That's all i know.

I think you'll probably find that most key loggers (legal or otherwise) will be removed by any half decent anti-virus software. A hardware one would be best, but you might very much want to look into the legality of this.

It is my computer I am going to use this on. I am not going to use it to obtain financial information to steal from anyone. I simply want to monitor what my children are doing on the computer.

I think remote access maybe of more use to you, however it may not be.

KeyLoggers are perfectly legal. The use of them to obtain private information, is not. (That law would actually exclude anyone you are legally responsible for)

Anyway, there are thousands of Keyloggers available on the internet. A lot of them free too. I wouldn't recommend going for the free ones though, as most of them are going to send your information to somebody else as well. So I would recommend buying one.

Software is definitely preferable. Just make sure to include the keylogger on your virus/spyware scanners exclude list.

Software vs. Hardware:
Software, your children will not be able to remove, unless you grant them the privileges to do so on your computer. Software is very simple, and can be obtained through the internet, from the comfort of your own home.

Hardware, on the other hand, if one of your children were to come across this nifty little device because they accidentally unplugged the keyboard one day, they could simply remove it, and get rid of it. Creating a financial waste, and in the case of some hardware keyloggers, render your keyboard port useless until you remove the software that comes with the hardware. (Some hardware loggers will lock the use of the keyboard if the hardware is not detected after installation.)

U can just tell your virus software to always ignore it or mark it as safe
