Hi, I'm looking for a laptop to replace my desktop. The pc I have right now is comp I built about 3 or so years ago that I've just grown out of and am not going to upgrade. Also, next year I'm going to be in college. I'm looking for something around $2,000 or less (if it's good). I'm probably going to put games like the new Grand Theft Auto IV on it so I'll need good graphics. I've custimized a dell xps and an alienware (area-51 9750) to meet my needs but they both seemed pricey. Also, the screen's gotta be 17' +. Thanx.

HP DV9500. for $1500-$2000, you can upgrade it to a pretty respectable desktop replacement. 17" screen, and 2 HDD slots. cant beat it!! see my specs. i paid $1200 for mine

dell inspiron 1720, theres also the 1721 with the amd x2 processor either that or the compaq equivalient of the hp since they look nicer in design. also you may check out the asus g2s-a1 but thats around 2100.
I got this for 1500 after coupons. it expired already but you should be able to get it for under 2000 maybe 1700-1800. it is customizable so you may change stuff around and add other stuff.
