Looking for a Motherboard..

Hello all,

As I search the list of motherboards on TigerDirect, I find myself lost in an endless search. I honestly don't know what i'm looking for when it comes to motherboards. I know to make sure you get Intel for an Intel processor and make sure its socket 775. But there are hundereds. What I am looking for is something under $100 that can handle an Intel Core 2 Quad Q8200 Processor, 4GB of RAM and 2TB of HD space. Bassically I will be editing video from firewire or eSATA with this machine.

Any suggestions?

What would be the importance of a video graphics array on a mother board? My motivation behind building this system is for editing video...

Are you planning on using/have a separate graphics card?

If yes, then you do not need the integrated VGA - your monitor will connect via the graphics card.

If no, you do need the integrated VGA - your monitor will connect to the motherboard.

Hope that helps, Doug.

Thanks Doug.

I feel it might be necessary, however i'm not entirely sure some video editing systems such as Sony Vegas require a decent graphics card. Therefore a motherboard with VGA might be less expensive in the long run.

Lets say I do decide to purchase a motherboard with VGA, could I not get a graphics card to add later? Should just be able to plug the monitor into the graphics card right?
