I'm currently running an ASUS P5Q PRO with an Intel Pentium 4 3.2G LGA 775 processor. The combo has worked fine for the last few years but I'm looking for a bit of an upgrade.
What I'm looking for:
- No old school PCI slots. I have nothing that will use them and will not likely buy anything that will, so it's just wasted space.
- No USB 2.0. Gotta go 3.0.
- I'd like 8 or more SATA slots.
- I don't know what the latest processors are, but I'm not opposed to either AMD or Intel.
I use my desktop for all around general use, gaming, movie watching, data storage, work, recording music, and trying to find the end of the internet, etc. My budget is $500-$600 for the board and the processor.
