Looking For A New Graphics Card For A C521. Help Please :-)

hmm well say i buy the graphics card i get it and i put it in and everything i do end up getting random restarts and stuff. Would i be able to send it back in to new egg and ask for my money back you think ?

but yea if it all does work good could justl eave the cover off and run a fan next to it . but would that hurt my pc at all with dust and all that stuff ?

Newegg will restock the item at a 15% loss to you. $100 would mean they'd take $15.

Dust won't hurt the computer, just make it less easy to clean.

hmmm well i was thinking last night what would be the best low profile card to go for. then also would need to update my power supply from the 270 to something and then add like fans somehow . what would you reccemend for all of those ??

Best one. This will require a 2GB ram. whats your ram? well it can use a 1GB ram. But with 2GB it will go up to a 512mb which = better preformance in games!

Now for the Non low profile card...

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130286&Tpk=8600GTS+512 It's expensive = over 100Euros budget but It's worth every single penny.

Under your budget one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814186026

He wouldn't have to cut up his case too! But problems, always problems, that 1600pro needs a 350-400 PSU to run correctly. he has a 280w. :(

The 7600gt (non-low profile) only needs a 300w.

thanks guys very much for all the posts. And helping me out with all this.

BUT I HAVE DECIDED WHAT I WANT TO DO !!! WOOOOT lol

ok instead of doing all this work to this pos. dell i will just get a decent graphics card to hold me over then i will build a whole new setup instead of me getting into a fight with my comp and then the pos winning :( lol

But things i need help with !

#1 = A very good low profile pci express x16 or x1 card (256-512) doesnt matter. As long as it will work with my system good.

#2 = A new power supply for my computer (currently 270w). Because i would like to add like 2 fans to the comp so my pc will be kind of cool. and run smoother.

#3 = A type of fan that would fit in my case good and be able to fit 1-2 if possible 3.

Let me know what you guys think i would greatly appreciate it !!!!! thanks again hermeslyre and all else for being helpfull !!!!!!! :)

Main game i am trying to run with the graphics card = Counter Strike - Source . And wanting to get it as smooth performance as possible reason wanting to put a fan/s and a new power supply . SO LEMME KNOW GUYS im jumpin in the shower real fast :)

For the PSU you may have to call up Dell and ask if they have any better PSU's for your specific computer. It sucks but it may be your only option (they could sell them online, i dunno)

Case fans!

You should be sure ona these is gonna fit 'fore you buy it. Do some measuring. :)

As for low profile video cards, that X1600pro that was posted is alright. Just make sure you have a PSU to match!

alright thanks for everything i will def do some measuring though :D haha lol

but one last thing i will need some help with from you :D

do you think that one would work with my PSU ? and say i wanted to buy a new one how does that go ? since its a dell does it have to be a dell PSU or do i just have to have a special size ?

Also with the fans where would i plug those into and how much power would they take up. because if i get this video card + like 2 fans . I will def needs some more power right ? hmmm tell me what you think of all that stuff and get back to me when you can

But main thing is if i dont put fans into the pc case. Do you think that low profile card will work on my pc ?

And if you dont know what would i have to do to find out ????

Fans take up a tiny amount of power. That card doesn't use much power either, If you were to use that card and add two fans you could keep your current PSU and have no problems at all.

I don't think you'll need the fans though. You've been running it this long with no problems, and adding this video card wouldn't change that.

As far as I know you'll need to get a Dell PSU to fit your motherboard and case. Dells just like that. :(

well thank you so much for all of your help you have no idea :)

But i was just looking at some of the forum topics and was wondering how do i over clock my graphics card and whats the pros and cons of doing it ?

ooo also how do i plug these fans in ?? and how do i know there is enough ports for me to plug them into etc.

Also with all this stuff how good will i be running games ? like counter strike source .. etc

Most fans plug into the 4 pin power dongle coming out of the PSU.

To overclock your GPU, you'll have to download Ntune or coolbits (use google) and manually raise the core and memory clocks. The cons are small cause you really can't damage anything unless you volt mod the card or something...

I dunno how CS:S will run on that card.. Do a google search for 7300gs and counter strike: source and look for benchmarks. :)

hmmm well how many 4 pin slots do you think are on my PSU or what is the average amount or is there no way to really tell ? unless i open up my pc box because i looked on the site it they dont have any specs on it.

They'll be coming out of the PSU itself. There will be several cords almost identical to one another, the 4 pin power dongle has four wires sticking out of a white head. Just check to make sure you have some extra ones, that aren't being used.
