Looking for a new graphics card, have $150 saved up

The 79xx is definitely the card to get if you are in a hurry to get a graphics card, if not i suggest you hold off abit, the 8600s are looking pretty attractive.

elite - I'm running on onboard video right now so yeah, I'm in a bit of a rush..

Also yeah don't just stick to something less than $230, if it's really good and only a little bit more I'll take a look at it as well..

Someone on my Xfire suggested a x1700xt xge.. Does anyone know anything about it?

Also which one is better, the 7800GS or the 7900GS ?? They are basically the same price.

Also guys, keep in mind I only have a 480W power supply.. I did a calculation on a site and according to it, with a 7800GS in my current system I only need a 280watt peak.. But I don't trust it that much.

The 8 series wasnt made agp because Nvidia decided that AGP couldnt support the cards properly. At least thats what Ive gathered from my research. Having said that though, the point of this thread is to help out leet6thgrader in finding the ideal graphics card. Not to argue about other ppl being wrong. lol

Sorry, I'm just saying if you are not in a hurry for good graphics then its a good idea to hold off for 6 months and get a PCI-E one.
Regarding the X1700XT, I can't get any info on it, is it even released? The only one I know of is the mobility one, but that is a graphics card for the laptop. I read in another forum that it is Vaporware. Which means hardware that is announced or "released" products that never hit retail or OEM channels. "The X1700XT for the most part falls into this."

The 7900GS has a higher clock speed than the 7800GS, I would go Nvidia. I made a mistake by buying ATI.

Yeah, that is probably the best AGP you're gonna find Unless you look at this ATI X1650 AGP 4x/8x, however, it is only 128-bit GDDR2, Go with that 7900GS

You could also look at this 7600GT with a higher clock than all of those

The 7600 would be better then the x1650PRO, which is a pretty horrible gaming card.

The 7900GS is also better then the x1650PRO and the 7600GT.
