Looking for a new motherboard

My old pc took a crap on me so I'm looking to build a new one from scratch. I needed some advice on a motherboard. I plan on playing games online and watching hd movies. I am not planning on doing graphics editing or anything like that. I thought the ASUS P5K looked pretty good.http://www.asus.com/products.aspx?modelmenu=2&model=1637&l1=3&l2=11&l3=534&l4=0

Can this motherboard do 45 nm and 65 nm as long as they are 775 socket? I would like to get something that has good performance and I think I'd like a core 2 duo. I was thinking about getting the Intel Core 2 Duo E7200 http://www.intel.com/products/processor/core2duo/specifications.htm?iid=prod_core2duo+tab_spec.

If anyone has any suggestions or advice please let me know! Thanks.

The P5k has got a great reputation with being a very solid board. Good overclocker as well. It has both 65-45nm support, though you may need to flash the newest BIOS, if it comes with a particularly old one.

Nice chip. If you're overclocking, I would personally get a quad, but again that's personal.

Hmm alright. So I was readin', the P5K wifi edition has like built in wireless router or something? Does it just allow you to 'connect' to a wireless internet connection?

I got the P5K wifi edition that I just up-graded the cpu to a e8400 and works great. This thing can OC like crazy with out + v on cpu. Wifi is more like a USB2 type but very picky. I had to get a new router to work properly. Make sure you up-date bios and don't install the Wifi driver from the ASUS cd just let windows detect it and install its on driver.

OK, easier thing for us is, that we will give you a system:

1. - What is your budget??
2. - Main use of computer???

Then we can proceed.

1. 700-1200$
2. Gaming/movies/music

I just really want a good stable computer I can use to play some decent games in the higher end of the graphics settings. Im hopping to spend less than 1k$ but I'm willing to put more into it if I feel like it's really worth it, even if that means holding off on it for a few months.

OK, here we go:

Total: - $763.93

Cohen, you forgot to add a heat sink with that quad core processor. It is original equipment manufacturer. Anybody got any suggestions on a heatsink and fan for a Socket LGA775 Quad-Core processor?

Actually I think the duo core E8400 would be better for gaming seeing as it has a higher clock potential. It all matters on what your doing really.
Quad = good for lots of processes
Duo = more power for a cheaper price
