Hey guys,

I need some help cause im not that knowledgable when it comes to this.

Right now Ive got a P4 2.4 and looking to upgrade. Is the 2.4 only a 479 pin? and If I wanna upgrade, does this mean I can only get a 479 pin CPU?
and if it is a 479 pin whats the most powerful one I can get?

Thanks guys

You must be referring to the Socket 478, not 479.

If you have a 478 motherboard, then yes thats all you can use. However your motherboard may limit you in terms of speed, it may only allow up to 2.8Ghz for example. If you can tell us what motherboard or computer model you have, it will help out alot.

yep, 2.8ghz is your limit.. and even so this processor does not support hyperthreading.
you'd be better off replacing the motherboard too.. if not the whole tower.

Huh? Both 2.4B & C has HT IIRC. If it ain't one of the earliest Northwood chips with 100MHz FSB.
