Can anyone recomend a dektop activity recorder that is free or payed for regardless of price please. I will be using it for recording software or games and will need it to be able to record sound and what is on screen. When i say sound i mean program sound aswell as possible microphone sound.

Will the Xfire recorder be able to do it, or is it not any good?

take a look at snagit. i say that because of the options like you can frame part or all of screen. allows saving of sound and plenty of options for saving during recording. wma or what ever. $50.00 . easy to use.
its flexible.

thankyou. How will this affect FPS if used in games and what not, only I used to use a couple of free ones and found out of game it was very choppy, and in games it would be fine to play but when watching the video back it would be maybe 5-10fps?

Don't know. it is a trial though. worth a try and see if it works.
try before ya buy is as good as it gets..........unless its free.

I use the xfire recorder for games it works pretty well if your computer isn't lagging as far as I know it only works for games ;)

I got the fraps free version and i like it quite alot, it messes around with pb on WaW but i hardly play WaW so that is cool. The free version only does 2 minutes videos and i know the payed one will do whatever length you want.

The only problem i have is that the recorded videos are huge, even though they are 30fps and .AVI, a couple gig for a 2 minutes movie at 1024x768

Is it always that big?
