Hi, I'm not much of a computer person when it comes to the hardware and knowing what I need to make things work right. I have an Acer Aspire M3100 AMD Athlon 64x2 dual core 3GB Ram computer that has a ATI Radeon X1250. Well the video card to my understanding isn't good enough to play certain games Like WoW and COD4. So I was looking for video cards and I seen most of them need 350+ PSU. Well i only have a 250 so I need to upgrade that in order to upgrade my Video card. But here is the problem I don't have clue as to what Kind of PSU I need to Video card I want. So if some one could please help me find a good match for my computer and video card that would be awsome.

That is the Video card that I was looking at

I am curious how fast is your X2?

X1250 that is 128mb and DDR memory right? I can see why you can't play WoW atm...even a 7600GT is struggling for that game.

Whats your budget? Firstly you would be happier and would last longer to get a 4830 or 9800GT for roughly 20 bucks more + free shipping from Newegg.

Power supply you will want a 500w or so to be safe and to "future proof" if you upgrade later to say a quad-core or a new dual-core etc.
One thing I learned is buy more then you need...other wise next upgrade you might have to buy a new 60 dollar + psu when spending 20 extra now would have saved you.

*wait for others to verify on the content below!*

One my buddies swears by his OCZ 600w

Though I prefer corsair for single rail and I never played with 4 rail PSU before but you pay for it with Corsair but they are dependable name as well as OCZ.

BTW all the items I listed are free shipping so you save 15-20 bucks over Tigerdirect. I wish they had free shipping options...they get items to me in 1 day ^-^

With my 8800GT (its the same as a 9800GT) I can max out WoW with x8 AA and never drop below 60 FPS cept in towns which I drop to 30-40 FPS which is a bug with the game engine...not my hardware. Since even with no AA and lower resolution my FPS still slumps to 40ish FPS.

thanks

thanks for all the information. The video card is 256 I think and for the processor its a 4800+ 2.50ghz. But I just want to make sure that I buy a good PSU one that is not gonna crap out on me in like a month or something. And make sure that I get one that is compatible with my computer and what ever card I get. But my price range is about $150-170. Not much I know, But any thing right now is better then the 10fps i get in raids. Doesn't really go hand in hand being a healer.

But once again thank you for all the help.
