Looking for new Motherboard

I am gonna need a new motherboard for when the Q9450 comes out. I want to get a top of the line motherboard. I want to end up running SLi for either 2 8800 or 9800GTS GPUs (That's dependent whether or not I make the stepup on my first one though).

I plan to overclock but only to about 3.2-3.4ghz.

I also want to use the fastest DDR3 RAM out which I think is PC15000?

Any suggestions? I found a few on Newegg like the Striker II and the Maximus but I am not sure what is actually the better motherboard.

Well if you want to run SLI then then you'll want one of the 780I mobos. As for DDR3...it's not worth it imo, as its much more expensive than DDR2, and only performs marginally better. You'd be better off getting DDR2, and using the extra money on a better video card.

No sense worrying about it until the time comes. Products change too quickly. The industry moves too fast. Unless you're buying it today, or this week, you may as well focus your attentions on something else for now.

The freaky thing is that it's not slowing down.. They're pumping new stuff out faster and faster.

technology these days... future proof means nothing anymore. We will be running off nuclear reactors in no time.

Ok so what DDR2 motherboard should I get?

Out of the two I suggested earlier, I like the one Tri-SLi compatible. Since I plan to go SLi. But I just want to make sure there isn't a better option for a better sweeter motherboard.

That looks like a good board. ASUS boards don't have a very good reputation with regard to CPU overclocking. From what I understand, the boards have serious vdroop problems. Anyway, yeah, read up on that board and see if people are having any issues with CPU overclocking.

As you know eVGA and XFX have 780i boards as well.

Yea, but nothing that seems to be the "caliber" of the striker II Formula. I am not a serious overclocker. Just want to tackle a 3.2ghz clock or so and that's it.

It looks like a sweet board, that's for sure. I almost passed up the Gigabyte X38 for the Maximus Extreme. Go for it. :D
