Looking for opinions on a computer

depends what you are want to do with it.
if you want to overclock it !!!!! its no k versien, so that would be a problem.
if you want to use it as a gamepc no good videokaart, but depends witch games you play.
and i think that for that kind of money there should by een ssd insight.
mayby its better for you, look for the parts and build it youre self, then you would have a better pc for that money.

o and for the moment i would stay at windows 7.
windows 8 is just on the market and look howmany updates already come out.

Could you please be more specific about why its not a gamer? Sorry i don't understand much about building computers which is why i chose not to build one. I am aware of the video card and that will be my first upgrade....but im coming from a $800 dell laptop from 2008 so im sure this video card will be satisfying for the time being.

Not for no 970 bucks. Would have to replace the video card and the power supply. Add that on top of the 970 bucks, nope. Building one is not as hard as you think.
 
Case is going to lack any cable management (increases temps, which is bad). The Processor is a little over the top for gaming. 2 cores is good, 4 is top notch. 8 threads don't help much.
Otherwise, not much that I can see right now.
 
cable management is internal to the case. There is EPS 8 pin, 24 PIN ATX, SATA power and data, and PCIe (depending on the video card. Not sure is the GT 640 needs external power or not).
If the case does not have good cable management, then there will be bad airflow and will increase component temps, causing the component to fail prematurely.

Not really. Just repairing and building computers for 17 years, have grown to dislike OEM computers. Most cases have horrible air flow and hard to work on, terrible wire management. Most use the cheapest boards possible to meet the spec.. Most use no name memory. Cheap low quality power supplies. Could go on more if I though about it, lol.

Thanks. You could go on if you like but i get the message. Well this is just a starting point for me, yes I've already bought the computer. At this current time i don't plan on playing any games that require superb performance and i feel this rig will do me fine. However your input on future invests would be appreciated. So from what your saying i would think a new video card, case and power supply would be my next priorities...? as far as cases go i don't need anything flashy...so i don't expect that to be overly pricey.

As far as the case goes, dont really know. Could not find a photo of the inside. Well I guess I did. Is this what the inside looks like?

If so you could probably get by with it. Room for a longer video card, though the (looks like from the smal photo) SATA and a few other cables might be in the way. You see what I mean, out from the video card the wires going to the board. Other then that just tuck the wires in alittle better. Cant tell but might need a front lower intake fan, might have one but cant really tell.

How much were you looking to spend on a better video card and power supply?

I cant tell you at the moment if that's the inside because its at my uncles house...hes installing windows 7 for me. As far as upgrading video card and power supply i would say maybe 4-700$ however i wont likely be doing this for about a year. As I said this is going to be a huge improvement on my laptop so I'm going to be a bit patient.
