Looking for PCI Surround sound card

Our system is a couple years old (DDR3), Core-2-Duo.
We have 1 PCI-e slot and that is for the video card (EVGA GTS450 SC 1GB) so we have to get PCI.
We have good surround sound speakers already.

Had a 'Sound blaster Audigy SE' for a couple of years but unable to find any Windows 7 drivers for it since the upgraded to 7 awhile back.

We purchased a 'Creative x-fi xtreme' that supported Windows 7.

We find that it is like pulling teeth to get it installed.
The drivers install fine.
Card works fine but we get an error going into the 'Volume Control'.
(Very important to be able to adjust the speakers independently)

We have searched the error....
Downloaded and install the latest driver from the Creative web site.....
Even talked to support.

All say. Totally uninstall and reinstall drivers and such... No good.
Card shows up fine in device manager but drivers or any other software doesn't even show up in 'Programs and Features' to do a clean uninstall.
We are taking this sound card back.

Anyway...
Looking for a middle of the road price ($60 - $120) Sound card for 5.1, Window 7, gaming.

This is one I'm looking at..
Opinions please.
"HT | OMEGA STRIKER 7.1 Channels PCI Interface Sound Card"

Thanks for your help,
Debbie

That card looks good and just the right price.

I did figure out the we do have PCI.
The small 1" connector.

So with that in mind (and staying away from Creavtive) do you have another one in mind?

Thanks,
Debbie

Ah you need PCI Express x1. :),Sorry.

The DX is basically a D1 just using a PCI Express x1 connection.

So if you can return your Creative and take the DX instead i would do that,You wont be disapointed. :)

The PCIe part was 'my bad'
That sounds (no pun intended) good.

We will go with this one.

Another successful forum post.

Thanks so much for your help, just what I was looking for.
