Looking for quality monitor

I am looking for a quality monitor, the budget doesn't really matter.
Preferably I would like a 27 inch monitor and a non samsung one as I have had many negative experiences with them in the past.
I will be doing gaming, about 6 hours max per week. Most of the time however I will just be browsing the web and viewing pdfs on my computer.
I am on the computer for most of the time during the day, more than 8 hours and my current monitor (Samsung 2253BW) is giving me eye strain whereas my second monitor which is an Apple Thunderbolt Display hooked up to my MacBook does not give me the same result.
I am currently using the Intel HD4000 graphics which is integrated into my CPU as my GPU, however I still have some money left to buy myself a GPU so if the monitor selected requires something better than the Intel Graphics I probably need to know.
I would appreciate it if somebody could suggest me a nice monitor.
