hi there, i am new to the forum and was wondering if any1 could offer some advice on buying a computer. i am currently running a p4 2.4ghz with 512mb ram, 80gb hdd, nvidia fx5200 vid card, liteon cdrw and a 17" crt samtron monitor. how much is that worth to sell that system?

i am looking to upgrade to a gaming system of some sort. i have already bought myself a 19" diamond digital monitor that i'm happy with but i need the rest of the computer. i want to be able to watch tv through my computer and have a quiet system and have wireless network(for broadband,i already have a wireless hub), keyboard and mouse. a cheap sound card or onboard sound will do and i need 200gb-300gb hdd. i am based at the gold coast in australia so if any1 knows some good places to buy my pc from please let me know.

thankyou

How much are you looking to spend on the new system? Computer Specs 101 has some great suggestions.

For Australian prices, take a look at www.staticice.com.au - it searches for the best prices on components from a variety of Australian retailers. When it comes to purchasing components, I have found www.msy.com.au is generally one of the cheapest stores. Aside from their outlets in Victoria, NSW and Queensland, they have a nation-wide delivery service (although I've never used it).

yeah us money....

i dont know much about tv turner chipsets, but i love the 7 series nvidia has to offer

Their parts prices are good, but when looking at those systems keep in mind that the included X300 Video Card is not great for gaming.
