Hello everyone

Never posted here before but i thought it would be a good place to start. (sorry if this post should be somewhere else i dont really know where to post stuff :D)

I am currently using a AMD AM3+ FX-6300 (CPU) and a Sapphire R9 270X and i was thinking its time for an upgrade. So i have almost decided to go for a GTX 1080 of some sort(havent decided yet, there are so many).
But im worrying that my cpu might bottlenck my pc. I was thinking that i might need to upgrade the cpu and maybe motherboard as well.

ANy of u guys know if it would be a hard bottleneck so that i need to replace everything at once or if i could prehapps just pick up the 1080 now and wait and save up some money for the whole thing.

(Sorry if i have misspelt something or that my englsih is incorrect as it is not my native language)
(and again sorry if this post is in the wrong spot or anything)

Have a great day/night everyone o/

I don't think it would be worth upgrading from a 6 core 6300 to an 8 core 8320. I think at this point, you would be looking at getting a new system but you could buy the 1080 now and save up for a better system later. The cpu may bottle neck the card a bit.

Prehaps i could try overclocking my cpu meanwhile i save for the mobo/cpu upgrade. I hard that for gaming more cores is not allways better and that speed is much more important. So overclocking it would help a little bit i gusse right?

I have a Asus M5A97 atm. I have a couple of friend who have overclocked on this board in the past so i dont think it should be any problem.

Yeah, no problem on that board. Just wanted to make sure you had a decent board. Wouldn't trust overclocking on cheaper boards.

Yeah you could upgrade your card, depending on your power supply. Like said overclock your CPU, but that depends on your CPU cooler too.

The FX processors (6300 and 8320/8350) have some pretty tangible benefits to an overclock. If you've got a semi decent air cooler (CM 212 or similar) you could probably hit 4.3GHz or so without much trouble. That in itself will help more than getting the extra 2 cores of the 8320. Don't buy an 8320 now, waste of money.
