Looking for the best spyware and antivirus

I been running Avast for the last couple of months and still end up with some kind of Trojan somehow. I like it but what Antivirus program would best suit me. I am looking for something thorough, something that can detect things fast and get rid of them. Something that's not going to bring my computer speed down a lot. I've tried AVG, AVAST.. I won't have Norton. It's excellent but it's just way to big, and what kind of Spyware runs best with Vista. That detects Malware, Spyware, Trojans, ETC.. Any help I would appreciate it

I agree man. I like Norton but it slows my computer down too much. I have had good luck with AVG, but you said you've tried it.

The latest version of Norton AV 2009 (non 360 version) runs pretty lightwieght and is a good scanner. NOD32 is also an excellent choice for a good lightwieght scanner that doesn't take up a lot of system resources. Of course these's programs are pay but I do feel they are superior to their free conterparts.

The new version of norton antivirus has become alot better when it comes to speed.

But there are many other applications that are good, im running Zonealarm Internet Security Suite on my pc.

It's an all-in-one software that protects you from most internet threats.

But it also depends if you want more protection from spyware or antivirus ?

An all-in-one solution takes care of everything but If I had to choose I would want protection against viruses.

Pc tools have an application that is focused on spyware and is called spyware doctor. Pc tools also got an all-in-one solution.

Here's my list of most important software security companies:

Pc tools
Symantec
Panda
Trend-micro
Kaspersky
Eset (nod32)
F-secure

Cheers

i use avira free personal antivirus and i am quite impressed with it.

the free version is almost adequete for viruses, trojans and root kits.

i rely on windows defender for spywares and malwares. how ever the paid version of avira has inbuilt spy monitor and firewall.

it is light on resources as well as quite fast.

If you are running a a free version of an antivirus such as Avast and Antivir, both excellent, I always have found that an antispyware program is essential with resident protection such as SuperAntiSpyware.

I am in full agreement with lawson_jl about the superiority of $ versions. I run NOD32 and it is superb.

I agree man. I like Norton but it slows my computer down too much. I have had good luck with AVG, but you said you've tried it.

as u said it.. defintely avg is a good antiviruse i recommend keeping both the antiviruse soft together... nd feel safe

I would NEVER use Norton I had to many problems with them when I tried to do update to my grandpas computer and I think it is awfull that computer salesmen take advantage of people use AVG free or something that is freeware its just as good as anything that you will ever pay for

When I used the Norton that came with my laptop 5 years ago AVG was picking up more. I do not know about the new version but Avast and Avira seem to be very good. Am also trying Rising as well to see how it goes. And The Cleaner for trojans and malwarebytes anti malware, along with Comodo Firewall. No probs so far.
