Hey everyone! Last week my computer fried and I can't get it to boot back up. Now, I'm looking into buying a new computer or laptop possibly. The budget I'm looking for is under $500. Some of the things I'm interested in are...

Video editing / Special effects
Gaming
Burning Movies
Blu Ray?

I have been looking online thinking that I will get better prices... Are bestbuy and walmart bad choices? I recently went to Newegg.com and found these two computers that looked appealing.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...82E16883227130R EDIT : they sold out of those already :( I guess I shouldn't have waited.

Are these good computers? I'm open to any suggestions and thanks so much for your help!

Your links are broken, as in they arent copied correctly. What kind of price range were you looking into?

Ok this was the one I saw on newegg. Or atleast it was extremely similar, the problem is on newegg it was only $370, are there any other computers like this but that are less expensive? I can't say it too much thanks again for the help guys :)
For gaming...$500 is a tough budget for prebuilds, because they usually use pretty low quality power supplies/etc. Would you be comfortable in building your own perhaps?

Ya I thought about that except I have never built one on my own, can anything go catastrophically wrong with building your own computer? If I can get a higher quality computer for cheaper just for putting it together myself it would be great.

All I need is the tower, thank you so much man. If you could just get me a list of stuff I should buy that would be amazing :)

Looking good man, the last link is broken, and where is the graphics card? Also, would it be possible if I could talk to you on msn or something? It would be a lot easier :p. My email is [email protected]

Thank you so much man.

What kind of games do you think I would be able to run with this build? I have some DDR2 ram in my old computer, would I be able to put it in this one? Would the same apply for my old computers disc drives? I added you on msn but you haven't signed on yet :p

With a 4830, you should be able to play alot of games with decent settings, crysis will run at medium or so settings probably, can max cod4/cod5 depending on the res you play at. Very similar in performance to that of a 9800gt/8800gt.

Great, thanks! So that's all the stuff I need? If I order all of those I will have all the components for building a PC including Vista?

Hmm, appears as if my link for the 7750 didnt copy right. You need a cpu, such as this: (original link didnt copy) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103300

Lemme get you a quick revised list since the optical drive is deactivated also;) Do you already have an optical drive? If you do that could be eliminated and used towards a couple slightly better parts.
