Looking to get a new hdd

I believe my current hdd's are slowing my pc down, so it's time for an upgrade. I use my pc mainly for listening to music, and playing online games. I'm looking to get a SATA drive, anyone know what would be best with my specs?

If your board handles sata2, maybe worth looking into, supposedly a little faster than regular sata (theoretically twice as fast but I dunnon about in practice). I like maxtors personally, but I have a seagate too and it's been great, so those would be good choices. Some of the maxtors have a 16mb cache, which is nice, dunno who else has it too but one thing to consider. You probably already know this, but defrags are the best remedy for speeding up a slowing hard drive.

sata drive

id say, get a nice seagate barracuda, or western digital

or the raptor is the best you can get for performance (normally), however limits the amount of space you have. its only a 74 gb, but 10,000 rpm rather than 7200!

or for maximum space, not a budget hdd tho, a 500gb seagate barracuda!

id say go with the 250gb though, or maybe one 74gb for performance (install all your games on it!) and the 500gb for mass storage!

If you want performance, go with the Raptor (only 74gb though). If you really want performance, get two Raptors and run RAID 0.

Look at the Hitachi T7K250, as it's 250GB and supports SATAII. THG said some very good things about it.

If you're gonna go into the 400+ GB range, do your wallet and data a favor and get 2 drives instead of one big one, it's cheaper and will get you better performance
