Losing video in CMOS

I just built a new computer tonight, evga x58 mobo, intel i7, msi 896mb video card, etc. once i get into CMOS, most of the screens you pull up from the main menu lead to a loss in video. I can hit CTRL ALT DEL and reboot but the same deal happens when I go back into the CMOS menus. I can view Health Status screen and the main screen. I can also goto the load defaults page but that's pretty much it. Any ideas what could be causing this? Mobo problem? Video card problem? Should I just unplug and replug everything in inside?

Hmm, sounds like a Video card problem. Is it showing any artifacting? Take the card out and look at the capacitors. If they look like they are blown, then the culprit is you Video Card. It also could be your Power Suppy.

The video card is a MSI N260GTX-T2D896 OC GeForce GTX 260 896MB 448-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16. I am not sure where the capacitor is on this card as its all encased.

I can view Health Status screen and the main menu screen, the load defaults page, Advanced Bios Features.. but that's pretty much it. The screen flashes blank if I go to Standard CMOS features and most menus. Any ideas what could be causing this?

Could the problem be too much power? Should I try unplugging one of the PCI-E power cables going into the video card? What are the chances of it being a motherboard problem?

The card isn't artifacting persay, its kinda doing that a little you could say but immediately flashes blank; the monitor on/off button blinks as no feed is supplied to it. CTRL ALT DEL works.

Do you have another older video card to use? If so plug it in and see if that works. If so then you have a DOA video card. If the older card is not working then you have a bad motherboard.

Update:

The next day, I plugged the computer back in and the standby LED light lights up bright but then dims out to the point where I can't tell if its on or off. Last night it was bright. I'm thinking either a motherboard or a power supply problem now. Which might it be? I need some insight.

The only other video card I have is an AGP one from an old old computer. No good. So I'm not sure how to test that.
