Lost E on desktop

Whats wrong with putting a shortcut on the desktop? It's the same thing as the original. Just rename it so it says "Internet Explorer" instead of "Shortcut to Internet Explorer".

Kinda common sense, no?
 
Actually no its not the same thing at all. Im not an idiot. The main benefit to using this icon instead of a shortcut is that you can quickly get to the Internet Options page by right-clicking and choosing Properties.
Anbody else out there that knows what i mean.
 
Ok the just go to "my computer" and click your hard drive. The go to "program files" and go to "internet explorer" and then copy "iexplorer" and paste it onto your desktop.

just right click anywhere on ur desktop, click on properties and then the desktop tab
then click customize desktop and make sure the box labeled internet explorer is checked

Why not do what i said? It works doesnt it?
 
well take it from me, I have a dad who doesnt get the concept of dragging and dropping
the way i explained it, he just has to click a couple of pretty buttons to get back the icon
