hey, i lost hard drive"d" after resetting bios in dell oiptiplex by removing battery and letting pc sit. it no longer shows the icon in "my computer"......before i had a "c" drive and "d" drive as hard drives. now it only sees 1. should i tell bios to "see" 2nd drive? thanks

do you have 2 drives or was it a partition? If you set all the drives to auto detect in the BIOS you should be good to go.

IDE is a form of connection, its getting a bit dated now, recognisable by the big (1.5") connectors on the motherboard and IDE device. Caps at 133Mb/s. hats where SATA comes in, starts at 150Mb/s and goes up from there, SATA is recognisable by the small (1cm) connectors on the motherboard and SATA device.
