lost my copy of wondows 2000

If you are trying to get it to run for Christmas, id recommend going to a Walmart or a Best Buy and picking up a copy of Windows XP to install onto it.

why not just put a distro of Linux on it and install a ms paint alternative?

anyway your going to need to buy or borrow a windows 2000 disk and use your cd key to install.

As Nevakonaza said, insall a Linux distro and use a paint alternative. If the specs aren't very high try a distro like Xubuntu.

What are the specs? Because something that runs 2K should generally run XP... as long as it's not the minimum 2K requirements.
