Well I download the lost planet directx 10 demo for vista and I set all of teh settings maxed out and I get like 18fps wtf I thought that the 8800gts could handle this game maxed out is there anyway to improve performance I am guessing this is due to vista, I can't help but feeling pissed off when you spend 400 bucks on a card and it can't max out a game:(

Haha, my friend tried Lost Planet on his laptop. I forget the processor right off, but it had a 6800GT in it. He got about 1FPS if he was lucky :P But it did look pretty good :o

I would go as far and say that it looks like the best pc game I have ever played just wish that the fps would be better, and I hope that once it comes out they fix this but I don't blame anybody but bill gates:)

You have to remeber that the GTS line is already old. I've got the 320Mb one andI'm certainly not expecting it to hold up in something like crysis when it comes out.

The thing with the new DX10 games is that the are also graphically intense (they dont just have DX10 stamped on them for no reason, it actually requires an amazing amount more processing power from the GPU) To really benefit from DX10 games and what they SHOULD look like, you need at least a low-mid GTX, in reality you should be looking at an Ultra

Are you saying your card won't hold up in Crysis on Max or won't hold up at all? It will hold up on medium settings I bet, you forget that the Cryengine is supposed to be pretty efficient. In all honesty, you don't need to be looking at a DX10 card, yet. What benefit does it give right now? The Lost Planet demo, that's all. The 8900's will be better and they will probably be much more powerful and efficient. Resource hog or not, I wish ATI would pull their head out of the sand, just to see what they can do with DX10, they need to go ahead and release the 2600XT and quit thinking Nvidia is going to spoil it.
