Lost Sound?

Hello all.

I have mysteriously lost my Sound on the Computer. I have checked things like the Volume being muted & tried testing with the System Sounds to see if they play but to no avail. Can someone please point me in the right direction on how to see if things are set up right.

I should mention that the Computer as recently been reformatted and the Sound asn't worked since.

What I mean is, what are the basic chain of events I should do if the Sound doesn't work. What do I need to check and in what order.

Could it be a missing Driver? How do I check.

Thanks for your reply. I am not sure what I should do to check the Audio Drivers. I have gone into Hardware Devices and things appear to be working fine but still no sound.
 
There weren't any question marks or exclamation points in the device manager?
 
you definately need sound drivers. Do you have the disk that came with ure motherboard if its custom built? If not whats the make/model?
 
Hi kzr22, It's an ASUS Motherboard P4 V 8000-X I looked on the ASUS Site but couldn't find any Sound Drivers. In fact I couldn't even find my Motherboard?

Can you help?
