Lost Space

I have lost about 20 gbs on my hd and can't seem to account for it. All burned vids are deleted after burning and trash emptied and have done some searches to try to find large files but just can't seem to find these lost gbs, any ideas, thanks.


Would like to locate and delete any large useless files before i clone this drive to a larger sata drive, thanks.

Try running CHKDSK (Start > Run > CMD > CHKDSK c: /f ) Sometimes if you create and delete many large files, you can "lose" space. This will usually regain it.

Ran a chkdsk but still can't account for about 20 gb of space missing/used. Anymore ideas.

OOOP's misread the post. But if your using Norton make sure you emptied the Norton recycle bin.

Go to Start > My Computer Then, right click your hdd and click "Properties". Then click the "Disk Cleanup" button. When it loads press the "Options.." tab and then click "delete" under the Restore section (bottom). Then click ok...

Thanks recovered about 10 gbs, now to find the rest. Wanted to clone this drive but if I can't locate the lost space I think I will just load new drive from scratch.
