I was merging a partition ,and everything seemed to go well . But when it was time to bootup ,just get a blank screen with a blinking cursor . I went in thru Xp repair and the Windows directory is still there . I had to mess the loading cfg . How do I repair ? Can I repair ? I don't have an repair console floppy ,and if thats what i need where can i get it ?
I am running XP Pro . Its an HP. Infact thats what i was merging I reformatted the HP recovery Partition , and was attempting to merge with my C: drive .
If there is no way to get it back then I know I can reformat . But I JUST got done reformatting and loading all the programs . And I would really like to not do it again ...hopefully .

Thanks The2edgesword

Why merge when you can extend. If you have a recovery disk for reistalling Windows you can boot with it in order to get to the recovery console. Once there you type in the "Fixmbr" and "Fixboot" commands to rewrite the mbr and boot sector information.

When deleting the second partition on the second hard drive here the primary was then extended by a free Linux utility known as the Gnome Partition Editor. GParted for cd. This can stretch the existing primary after the removing the hidden recovery partition if it isn't already...???
