Loud PC

I bought this computer about 6 months ago. It used to be dead quiet but recently it became kinda loud.
I opened the box but can't figure out what's causing this. I guess it's either the power supply or some fan (doesn't seem to be the PS tho).

Don't know if it helps but here are the specs:
mobo: GA-965P-DS3
cpu: Core 2 Duo 6400+
power supply: Antec Trio TP3-430
gfx: Asus Nvidia Geforce 7600GT
+ WD hard drive

well, loud noises coming fromyour PC could mean either the fan in the PSU is going out or your case fan is going out... or it could even be your hard drive... also dont forget the CPU fan...

what kind of noise exactly? I mean is it a grinding noise? or a high pitch noise?

what you could try is check whether the case fan is the problem by unplugging it from the PSU and see whether the noise is still there...
 
I'd first check any of the fans... Unplug them, remove the GPU, whatever... Your machine should be fine for a short while even without it's CPU fan(as long as the heatsink's still on :P)

Don't forget about the chipset fan too.
 
Maybe its your cpu fan, my friends cpu fan is temperature controlled, and it was always so loud so i took a look and there was so much dust on the heatsink, so i rmeoved it and cleaned it and now the fan is barely ever on full, so maybe its a temperture controlled fan, and the build up of dust is affecting the temps?
 
Maybe it's the summer now and since it's harder, the CPU fan automatically ramps up its speed. That's what happened to my Emachine.
 
Now the sound got a bit louder and it seems pretty much to be the big mobo fan. I'm not really confident with putting my hands inside of the case tho, how do I unplug it and is it safe to not use it?

About the case fan, it's actually off and there's a little white wire going out of it with a switch at its end. Is there any reason for not switching it on?
 
Does the fan sound like its going out or just running wide open? If its the big mobo fan its probably the CPU fan, most of the time if you have a northbridge fan it alot smaller.. look in the fans heatsink and see if theres alot of dust in it.
 
Sorry that's actually not the mobo/cpu fan but the gpu's cooling system.
Is there anything I can do about it?
 
Download ATItool and use it to, first, see what temperatures your graphics card is running at, and secondly, change the fan settings.

And yes, ATItool works with Nvidia cards.

Alright, nice utility. Points out the problem is not the gpu... Sorry for all misleads.
It ought to be that fan on the mobo that's full with dust.
Can someone tell me how to clean it up?

Edit: I just read a gpu is up to 90°C/194°F. What you people reckon?

Your GPU? Under settings on that program, you should find a tab with "fan control". Turn the fan up some.

Cleaning out the motherboard fan:
Get a can of compressed air and shoot it on both sides of the fan, while the computer is off.
 
sound can also be overall becaues the fans vibrate so its sent through the metal in your computer. you can first try silencers for your case fans and see if the sound seems to have lowered
 
oh yeah also you said the dust thing, you can simply buy this one can that has air in it to spray out the dust, yes they made a can full of air just for computers XD
