MA770T-UD3P usb slots are really slow!!!

I built a computer over the holidays, but It takes me hours to transfer information through the usb ports whether its with a flash drive or external hardrive.

What could be wrong, and what can I get to speed it up?
 
if its anywhere, may be in the bios, check to see if the usb is set to 2.0 compatibility, also if you have a wire extension, that can slow things down a little sometimes, from noise or a bad USB cable
 
In the bios make sure the usb is set to high speed not full speed. Then look in device manager to see if the usb ports are listed as enhanced usb or 2.0.
