Mac Desktop

This guy I work with acts like he knows everything about computers, and thinks Macs are the best for everything. So today at work he was telling me his dad's Mac is the best desktop on the market, and that it can take any game I could throw at him. I told him to run Crysis on max graphics, AA/AF, and resolution. He claimed it could run 3 or 4 instances of it, which caused me to burst out in laughter, but he remained confident.

Does anyone know if a Mac has a good enough video card to even run it on very high graphics? The best graphics card I've seen for a Mac is an 8800GT.

Mac's aren't gaming machines, that is all i know. I know macs are great computers, i would rather go for a windows, but if i can have a mac also, i would love to.

well no... Macs don't come with nicer graphics cards because they generally don't need them. They may come with high end workstation graphics cards, but the best gaming card that I have seen was an HD3870

well, it all depends on what mac desktop he has...
if he has a mac pro, then yes that would be able to handle crysis

if its a imac however... it'll probably trip over crysis... alot

I don't think even a mac pro can handle crysis, as they don't allow you to even have more than one card, do they? The mac pro also has a xeon, which is a server processor. But even if it could handle it, do you think it could honestly handle 3 or 4 instances of it?

I know macs aren't made for gaming, but he is trying to say they are the best for everything, and tells me to just shut up about computers and that I know nothing. Yet when I ask him what's in it he says he doesn't know or care.

mac pro desktop is two quad core xeon processors. I could probably host 4 crysis mulit player servers, actually probably more since there is no video over head on hosting a gaming server.

However, they aren't really gaming machines, however that doesn't mean they aren't high end. I mean you could edit hollywood quality movies on them easily.

I'm not talking about running Crysis on any settings, this guy said he could max graphics, AA/AF, and resolution, and do it running three or four instances of the game. Is there even a computer out there than can run one instance completely maxed out 100% at even playable frame rates? Most people just run the graphics maxed out on what ever resolution their monitor's resolution is.
