Mac G5 in firefire mode with Vista laptop...

I need to take a 30gb file from a Mac G5 and my external HD has been stolen!, so i was wondering having only done this between two macs before.

If i was to start up the Mac G5 in firewire mode and connect it to my Vista Ultimate laptop, will I be able to see it in "computer" as you would for any other device ?

The reason i am asking this is because the mac is in another location so i can't just try it, will have to make a trip tomorrow and do this if it works !

This won't work for several reasons, the main reason being that Windows can't mount HFS+ file systems.

Yes you can network them and that would work since everything copies/transfers over TCP/IP these days the local drives can be any file system and OS X supports SMB which is what Windows uses for network connections.
