I have virtual PC 7 on my imac G5 (512mb of RAM) and I got this monopoly game http://www.gamespot.com/pc/puzzle/monopoly/index.html

My 2 friends have the exact same game and they can connect to each other fine. At first they couldn't so one of my friends had to unplug their router and go directly from DSL modem to PC and disable windows firewall to connect, then they could connect. I did the same but the thing is I don't have a real PC I have virtual PC so I'm wondering if that's the problem. The thing is the monpoly game asks you what connection you're using (the choices are TCP/IP ; Modem ; or Serial Connection) I pick TCP/IP then it asks for my friend's IP address, I enter it in then the list that allows me to select the game is completely empty. Like I said my friend had the same problem but unplugged his router and turned off windows firewall, I did the same but the problem continued.

Someone please help me, I paid 20 bucks for this game, I don't want to have to buy the mac version because I don't even know if that's compatible with the PC version

Well if you have a mac, why would you worry about it being compatible with a PC?

Because he wants to play his friend which is on a PC. If he bought the mac version of the game, and it was not compatible to connect to the pc version... well then there'd be no point in him buying it.

As for the problem...hmmmm, I've absolutely no experience with Macs. Is there possibly a firewall on your mac that you might be running that is blocking the connection?

Have you ever considered running Windows on your mac? you could get a cheap home oem version. You can then run it with boot camp... Just a thought.

Edit:

Just had a thought, you might not have an intel processor on that G5. My lack of Mac knowledge is showing :). If you have an Intel Processor then you'd be good to go.

That totally doesn't even help the person who posted this....

Okay, a few things to consider here:

1) virtual PC kind of suck, and its emulation which eats the heck out of your processor
2) Any kind of video rendering is going to be poor

Since it seems you can get it to work, maybe it will work for you. make sure you are not connecting to his internal IP if he is on a router. If you want to connect to the game you will need the ports open or forwarded in your router, and use the wan IP, not their actual IP on the client.

Your other option is to put all the machines in DMZ and then they will totally be outside the router.

Well I'm sorry, I read the entire thing wrong, I shouldn't have posted something like that, didn't even help the person. I'm sorry and I take my leave.
