Mac O'C

if you have a Mac... trash it.
don't get me wrong, but everyone says how Mac's are so good for video editing...
B.S. my comp could outperform most Mac's that are sold
they also charge too much for hardware!
my friend spent 1200 on a Mac, they gave him a G4 (bad proc) 1.25ghz with a 9600pro 32mb 8x dvd burner, and 1gb of ram...
i mean, how unbalanced can a system be... not to mention the thing isnt worth NEAR $1200
he says "oh well it never gets any viruses"
yea, well my pc hasn't had a virus in over two years, and its because i don't look at XXX sites....
 
I havent heard of them being oc'd, but i would imagine they could.

Well Mac's only tend to get less virus's/spyware because there arent as many written for the Mac OS. Its not that it has better security, its just that no one wants to make a virus that attacks Mac's, they'd rather focus on Windows.

Does somebody smell the fanboyism in this thread? It's very strong.

People usually dont buy Macs for the hardware, its for the easy to use and safe software. They like the look of the OS and the fact that they dont get viruses.

So dont go comparing your comps hardware to your friends Mac hardware, because its pointless.

And did he ask for an opinion on Macs? I dont think he did.

its obvious that pc's are better.
you can make a pc's OS look good.
they don't get viruses because they're incompatible with the viruses most of the time (just like other software)...
i didn't say he asked for my opinion, but i gave it regardless
two words: "incompatible" and "expensive"

I have a Mac, and I must say it has the best OS I've ever used, its very, very, stable, and is very good for video/audio/graphic editing, I use Final Cut Pro on it, its only 800Mhz but I'm very satisfied with it

It's a total opinion that pc's are better. It's one persons opinion. I agree with you but I dont go around telling that to people without them asking.
 
why doesnt someone just answer his question instead of arguing over if a mac or pc is better? im sure there is a thread about this somehwere

No way, as you see PC is a copy of Mac:
Microsoft started with the old crappy MS-DOS operating system
Apple from the beggining though had the window system in it's Mac OS, MS liked the windows system that Mac OS had and made a new bootleg (and vulnerable) copy of Apple's Mac OS and called it 'Windows', then when Mac OS X was released it had so many new reatures and a new 'aqua' look, which MS liked and is going to be using in Windows Vista.
There are many more points, but I'm just tired right now to recollect...

1. I am not complaining, I am telling fade2green that he shouldnt come in here telling everybody he thinks PC is better

Everyone has their opinion. But here are a few things that really annoy me about macs:

1. No start menu
2. Standard mouse is only 1-Button
3. Overpriced for their performance
4. Not as easily upgradable
5. The fact that there incompatible with most programs and almost all games

True everyone has their own opinion, but it doesnt mean they should come in and tell everybody what they think without anyone asking.


Yea that is annoying. But im sure somebody can come in and list the positives.

1. No start menu, but really cool magnifying dock, all you gotta do is put all your shortcuts there, a lot better than having start menu
2. Standard mouse WAS only one button, now Macs are sold with the new 'Mighty Mouse' which has two buttons and has a 360 degrees scroll wheel
3. Professional performance comes in higher prices
4. the PowerMac series is open and easy for upgrades.
5. I wouldn't say 'incompatible', just that manu games don't come out for Mac, anyway you wouldn't
get a Mac to play games on....
6. Viruses don't affect it
7. Very fast, my 800Mhz G4 Runs Mac OS X Tiger faster than I run WinXP on my Pentium 2.66Ghz

of course, you can upgrade a mac, but they still overprice the secondary hardware because it needs to be made to fit...
and then theres installation. who wants to pull apart an iMac? i sure dont, they're like upright laptops, only not very portable... lol
the only advantage mac's have are a very white futuristic look to them, and more desk space. of course, throw the tower on the ground and buy an LCD, save $300 and who cares if it looks futuristic as long as it performs futuristic right?
boat anchor... hahaha... i think ive heard that before lol.
