hey if i put the Mac OS on PC will it perform the same as the Mac version or at least pretty close?

pretty much jst wondering if it would be cheaper to build a PC and put mac OS on it or to get a mac .. I live in New Zealand and the Mac's are really expensive for some reason around 2 1/2 times more expensive than PC with pretty much the same specs.

new intel core 2 2gb of ram 7800gtx(wat mac gives u) and like 320gb hdd mac will be like $3800 with a 19"

and u can build that for like ... $1500 and the mac os is only $300

Other than the fact that it is illegal to put mac osx on a pc and the fact that OSX wont have full support for all your hardware (nor will you get any support or updates).

Other than all that, your fine.

Basically what Jonyboy said. I don't know if I'd spend that much for a Mac, but I got my Macbook for less than $800USD. Of course, graphics aren't worth anything, but if you got a Macbook Pro, with the 8600GT, it would be decent.

And, of course, I realize you are talking about desktops. ;)

K .. it was just a thought, don't think i would actually use it ... I'm more of a windows user... windows is fine, not the best but its sure cheaper than mac's... but linux's is good 2 :)

The price is around the same here buddy and I live in the us. Macs are more expensive but tend to be more powerful and reliable but not always. If you want to get that get it but personally i would stick with windows or linux on a pc cheaper and easier to upgrade and not illegal...

I find the performance of OSx86 on my PC superb. I also have 100% full compatibility (sound, graphics, ethernet, etc). Hasn't crashed for months. All it requires is some time to learn about how to handle it (there are some things you must do differently compared to a standard Mac, for example, Software Update). Other than that, it's really good.

But whatever choice you make, it'll be a good one. Just make sure to PM me if you decide to go the OSx86 route (I'll give you a few tips on what hardware to pick). Here is a whole Hardware Compatibility List: http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.php/HCL_10.4.8

Anyway - good luck! :)

Yeah, you do literally have to choose between putting a mortgage down on your house or buying Adobe Photoshop CS3! :P

Yea I saw that website .. lol thats why i came up with this post ... anyways .. yea i know macs in the US arn't to much more expensive than PC's .. but in NZ, there like way more expensive .. more than twice the price for the same performance... but yea I'm happy with window's im just curious
