Mac OS X Modification

I am getting a new computer soon, and I was planning on getting Windows vista when it comes out. I was searching online when i found this survey where Mac OS X blew windows XP out of the water.

The problem is of course, I would not be able to run the majority of programs out there if i got mac os x. I did a little more online searching and found this program that turned OS X into Windows. Could I use this and have a good windows program? Or would the costs of running this program outweigh the benefits of Mac OS X?

Hmm

That score does not really reflect the truth in my view. People are always biased and not everyone knows how to use OS X. It would have been interesting to see what kind of people voted for this because to tell you the truth, to the average Joe, many of the categories would be incomprehensible! Anyway, I just wanted to put my view on this matter across. I think that any comparison of OSs goes wrong in one way or the other.

they missed out on the catagory "compatability", this gives windows a huge advantage over MAC. That and right click. ANd if they had a catagory for gaming, windows would excell alot there.

So am I better off getting Vista over OS X?

As for the compatibility issue, wouldn't that program I posted the link to take care of it?

your best bet is to get windows xp now, then upgrade to vista in 2 years or so. You probably dont want to wait a year to get a computer, and when it first comes out it will be very expensive.

And that emulator doesnt allow you to run either OS X or Windows on the same pc, OS X only works on Macs and Windows only works on PC's. Just wanted to clear that up since it seems like you were going to install them on the same comp.

oh, sorry if i was unclear. I was going to get a mac with OS X Tiger on it, then I found a third party program that simulates the windows environment on a mac. I wanted to know if the system costs of the program would outweigh any benefits OS X Tiger may give, since it seems to be more efficient than windows.

But I think I'm going to do what was suggested, get XP then later upgrade to vista.

Is there anywhere I can get a skin that simulates Vista on XP?

Blazeix, i'm just curious as to what programs you wanted to run on your computer? Most popular / "killer app" programs these days are available for both Mac and PC and run similarly on both OSs. The transferring of files between systems is also rather easy these days.

The only real disadvantage to OSX is if you want to play a lot of games. Also, there is a huge advantage to using Mac OS X over Windows XP due to its horrible security holes (spyware, adware, viruses, etc). I use both windows and and macs on a regular basis, and for the casual user, i would suggest OS X without a doubt. It is extremely user friendly even if you've never used a Mac before.
