Mac OS

If you want to run OS X, get a freaking mac. Otherwise you can run linux (which is extremely similar) and have an OS X theme and most likely never really know all the differences.

OS X and and Linux are not the same.

You would not have a similar experiance.

You cannot install osx on a pc from a mac disk. It's impossible. You can't even install osx from one of those disks on another mac, believe me.

The only way to get osx 'working' on a pc is x86 version that's been talked about, which is an illegal hacked copy of osx that circulates on the internet and various p2p programs. It only works with intel based computers (apparently people have gotten it on amd comps but it probably requires huge effort) and even on intel comps there's a good chance it won't work.

Your mates disks are worth nothing, they're recovery disks specifically for his computer

Also, I'm intrigued by the comment ¨the only thing decent about macs is osx¨. The only thing decent about the computer is the only thing that has any importance then? So if you lined a pc and a mac up next to each other, both without os's the pc would be better?

Not true;) You have to create a Iso image of it though using Nero but if you want to keep it legal as possible to run it on a pc (even though it's illegal) you just need to download a program(not saying pm if ya want to know)and make an iso image of the DVD(mac osx leopard 10.5/10.51 and your away once u read the guide:P

Hey tlarkin, even though I love Mac hardware and believe it is superior to PCs, I'm in the position of most people where they have PCs and don't feel like buying Macs as well. Do you think that Mac will ever make a PC version of their OS? I'm asking you because you seem to be the one who knows about Macs the most around here. Since getting a PowerBook G4, I've decided I like Mac a lot more than Windows. Personally I'm kind of doubtful of them licensing it for PCs because of their hardware sales.

You know how many mac users would be pissed if that happened? Mac users dont want pc users using their OS. That was a dumb question!

Guys i was just wondering about if i could or not.... i didn't think it was illegal but.... i'll see anyway... but thanks to all..... :o

so now you know, it's ILLEgal, even if you can do it on a normal pc.
i really can't see how stupid some members are arguing with each other saying "yes you can" and "no you can't"
tlarkin stated that it is illegal to install OSX on none other than Apple hardware plus it is also against CF's policy, can't some people understand that ?

geez

The point of yes/no is if it is actualy possible, regardless of legality, to install Mac OS X onto a non Apple computer. YES is is possible to install the OS on non Apple computers, but you have to used a hacked version of the OS. NO it is not legal to do it. END OF LINE.
