Hello, i am a new member, and i need some help. can i BUILD a computer(like with an atx case, mobo, intel/amd processor, etc...) that can run mac osx, or does it have to be a mac computer? And, if i can build one, can i make it dual boot winxp and macosx without using BootCamp?

Thank you for any help!!!

Diroga, do you mean get a mac and rerpolace some hardware, or what?
well you could do that...

I'm saying you can get a 2.2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, a total of 4GB of RAM (four sticks at 1GB each), an ASUS P5W DH Deluxe motherboard, a GeForce 7300GT (the same basic video card that comes installed in the default Mac Pro configuration), a 500GB hard drive, a DVD burner, and an Antec Sonata case (which I've always liked for its looks and quiet fans), then install OSX on it.

I'm saying you can't... Because you can't, I know something you don't...

Ever heard of a TPM? Legal Mac OSX runs only with an Apple Computer's TPM(Trusted Platform Module).

The bad thing about your post is that you said you could but gave no information as to the question of "How?".

dude use the internets and see that it has been done already.

Did I not just say "Legal Mac OSX"?

It runs like crap because it's not meant for anything other than an Apple computer. You didn't tell the OP that it was illegal, therefore giving him bad info.

I've tried it and know about it, why else would I say "legal"?

hmmm. not sure why it doesnt work for you. works fine for....

He didnt ask about legality. he asked if it could be done and it can be.

for some reason you just say what comes to your mind, i ran X86 (still running) and it ran better than ubuntu on a celeron 2ghz with 512 ddr2ram, first off after you install it, you just don't use it.. there are things that needs to be done to fine tune it to stop the lag...believe me i know... so what you are saying now is an OPINION not a FACT

What you are talking about is against forum rules. http://www.computerforum.com/52038-forum-rules.html

2. Discussions which actively encourage illegal hacking/malicious harm to computers/networks is prohibited (this includes discussion surrounding use of proxy servers)

He's just stating that it's possible, not that you should do it

ah exactly my point.not that you can use it
anyways as with regards to the OP, just build your machine and dual boot windows or linux.

We could argue semantics but best to leave breaking apples EULA and hacking software out of discussion from now on.
