Yeah when you buy 3,000 licenses you buy the licenses, that is volume licensing, if I said 3,000 copies that would imply 3,000 physical copies.

Yeah but usually there is a discount when you are into the really high numbers like that, plus if an office cant afford to upgrade from office 97 then why would they want to upgrade to windows 7 in the first place lol, a new version of office is cheaper than a new os.

You would be surprised our 6,000 seat Windows XP license costs $80k per a year, and that is discounted both for volume and for educational institutions.

Thankfully, we are dropping it over the summer as I no longer need to run Windows XP on the Macs at work.
