Ok so here's the dealio! My friend has a 2010 MacBook 13" and it was running 100% before he tried to clear the HD so he could sell it to a friend. He cleared it incorrectly (IDK how) and he said that the OS was wiped out too. The ONLY thing that he can access on the HD is the recovery partition, but he says it does nothing. he also says that putting in an OS disk doesn't allow him to boot from the disk or reinstall the OS so he thinks the disks are bad. He is able to boot it into the main recovery screen and the disk utility screen (idk what this means...I'm a PC user only thus far)...He called Apple and they told him that the Logic Board is bad (That's probably BS so they can get more money lol) does anyone know what's going on here? my mac friend said that you just need to load a new OS onto it and walk away...I am looking at possibly buying it off the guy as a broken piece for like $200 but I'm gunna try to legitimately fix it for him if I can...any ideas?
I know almost nothing about Macs, but I'm going to give it a shot within the next few days (I am pretty darn good at PC though, how hard could it be? ;P)
System specs:
here's what he told me
2010 MacBook 13"
250GB Hd
2.3Ghz intel core 2 duo w/ 3mb on-chip shared L2 Cache
Nvidia GeForce 320M video card w/ 256 Mb ddr3 SDram shared with main memory
he was running OS 10.8 before all this happened and it was running like new...I kinda want to buy it, but I'd like to help a friend
Leme know what you think or if I need to find a mac forum
