Macbook Pro connection is not secure

So I'm trying to fix this issue for a family member. On google chrome and mozilla firefox (ff was installed after this problem occurred and expresses the same symptoms). Going to various websites including email there is an i within a circle icon instead of a gold lock and it states that the connection is not secure or not private. How does one fix this? I've tried many different options and an Avast Virus scan came up with 0 infected files and 54 unscannable files. And Malwarebytes returned 0 infected files. Help?

Can you post a screenshot of the security overview?
It should tell you specifically what is failing the check. If it says invalid certificate you can also check the cert, sometimes you can verify that the day/month are right but the year can sneakily be off as well.
