MacBook

OK Guys, I need some help. After reading threads and talking with my daughter I'm considering a MacBook for her. My issue is I don't know anything about a MacBook. From turning it on and off to how it operates. I'm sure I can figure out how to use it, but is it like a PC. In the sense of programs like does it have excel and word? Is it similar to Windows 95/98/XP/Vista or 7? I know it's apples operating system, but I've never looked and operated one. Can I use it wirelessly with my home pc and just add to the network. Are there any additional cost's or features I might need. It's basicly for her school work and if she wants to browse the internet. Here is what I'm looking at http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0337714

The notebook I was looking at is this one

What do you guys think?

Thanks in advance...

it may or may not come with word, there is a port of word from MS for OSX tho, so you can get it. Also it appears Open Office has been ported as well, and is called OpenOffice.org Aqua

a macbook will operate for the most part like any pc, tho there is a learning curve, and by connect to you pc, do you mean remote logging into the desktop via the mac? i believe theres a freeware remote desktop program avaliable too, but im fairly sure you can fit a mac into this situation, tho you just will have to be patient as its a different animal in a way. i honestly dont own one, but ive played with one a little, and their straightforward to use.

Office is available for mac. and 2011 is coming soon. You need to buy because it is a Microsoft product. 80-100. Apple makes their own called iWork and you can open word and excel and powerpoint and save them as them. Macs are alot easier to use than Windows. It's easier to learn if you pretend it's the first computer you used, forget windows and it's shortcuts etc.
