magnetism -> degauss won't work

Hi there,
we're having this problem since we moved the furnitures inside of the room.
Now, wherever we place the speakers (old hi-fi ones), as far as cables can go, there's magnetism on the screen. Degauss ain't doing nothing about it.

Thx for any ideas

Monitors can get permanently damaged due to magnets or pressure causing a green or red type tinge, which degauss will not remove. If the monitor was moved around, part of the screen might have been damaged, or if you believe it is the speakers, they may be magnetic or may simply be interfering with the comp in some way.

Degauss will work if you temporarly expose it to magnetism, it wont work while there is still magnatism which is effecting it.

You can try this, it looks like it could easily mess your monitor up more though (never tried that myself).
Again, thats only a fix if the magnets are gone from the monitor, if they're still in range of messing it up then it wont get rid of the problem.

I would suggest repositioning the speakers so that they dont cause this effect, because if they're placed in the position for a long period of time, then it will permanantly mess the monitor up.

Alright, that's the point.
I still don't explain the speakers are messing up with the monitor while they're just as far as they used to be but I'll try a degauss with the speakers away and eventually moving the whole stereo machine somewhere else.
Anyway, thx Omega, thx everybody!

Hi again,
it appears after removing the stereo machine from the room, the upper-left corner of the screen still shows those weird colors.
Can it be that it permanently got damaged after only one month of magnetism?

I'm not really confident with the solution you suggest 34erd. I've read unplugging the monitor for 24h with the power button on might fix the problem. Anybody already heard about that? Any other suggestions?

ONE MONTH! Wow.. yes it is damaged. 1 day can mess it up. Either try the repari shown above, or time to spring for a new monitor.
