Main fan runs almost constantly - Didn't used to.

My title says it all.
My main fan used to run only occasionally. Mostly if I had multiple windows open or was watching videos.
Lately, fan runs about 80-90% of the time and runs about 70% when computer is in sleep mode with no windows open.
Is something going bad?
Also, not sure if related - My clock is always ~3 minutes fast, even a day or so after it updates, (once a week).

I have a 7 year old gateway, Pentium 4 CPU 3.40GHz 2.0 GB RAM

Thanks, Lgo

Hi Linkin,
Thanks for the reply...Two things:
1) I use ESET Smart Security 5, (NOD32) as my firewall/threat detector. I think that this may have been running extra as there was an update that I had to manually install. I did that about 2 hours ago and since doing it my fan has not come on.
2) I tried twice to download Hwmonitor and both times ESET interrupted the download and quarantined something....
Win32/softonicDownloader
and
a variant of Win32/ InstallCore.D

So, I did not download HWMon. Although when I googled it it did sound like a good tool.

Can you temporarily disable ESET or whitelist the program? It's a false positive, HWMonitor only accesses temperature probes and such.
