i have about 70gb's of files i need to transfer from my desktop to my netbook. both computers have windows 7 homegroup and that would take forever to transfer.(1.5mbps)
but anyways, i have found out that i need a crossover cable to connect the two computers. i have a regular ethernet cable(several of them). is there any way to make an ethernet cable a crossover cable? (other than switching connector positions because i dont ave the tools for that)

like, can i cut the cable open and splice some different wires together?

thanks

Not without causing interference. You will either need the crimper tool with a rj45 connectors or you will need to go buy a crossover cable. You can buy a tool for around $20 and you'll also need a package of the connectors. I make my own cables.
