Make my pc faster..anything?

Is there anyway whatsoever to make my pc any faster without buying more ram or a better processor?

Overclocking is out too...i cant overclock because Hp locked everything up:confused:

i dont want to spend anything else on this system but im going to have to do with what ive got for now.

am i pretty much stuck with it at the normal speeds?:D

what reg cleaners you recomend patrickv :confused:

i run CCleaner and thats quite good :)
 
switch to windows classic theme.
go to system properties advanced and set the computer to best performance. use a black background.
 
disable some services, do microsoft updates, check startup items, remove the font you do not need. and do not use norton.
what antivirus, anti spyware do you have?
 
AusLogics Boostspeed is a great software tool to optimize all the Windows settings so your system runs smoother/faster.

I dont think extra software like AusLogics Boostspeed or "speed up XP" will make xp run faster. What do they do? They just use ram.
I wouldnt install those programs on my pc.

instead I would install a new xp and make a backup of it.

ohh no way lol..i wouldnt touch Norton if it was the last AV on earth:D

for Antivirus i use NOD32...which doesnt use much resources anyway and for Antispyware i use Spyware Blaster :)

ohh my system isnt that slow lol...not to the point i have to use classic theme like you would on a P2 with 256Mb of ram lol.

well it made my p4 at work run like a core 2 duo!
 
I don't really think there is much you can do mate, just keep an eye on the programs that are running in the background and see what you can disbale from 'Start Up'.
