makin my own OS

That's the first free one I ever heard of besides linux

The name minix predated Linux itself. Minix is a miniature Unix distro which inspired Linus Torvalds to create Linux. Remember that not all distros are based on linux, many are Unix-based. Also remember that Linux itself is a derivative of Unix. The Unix world can be a bit confusing in terms of copyright.

i have an extra pc to play with, which OS from that list do you think would be the best?
In other words most stable etc to play with?

i dont know why but when i go to install ubuntu it just says an error. it dissapears bfor i can read it. Thats why i wanted sm1 to make one.

How are you trying to install it? Did you burn it to a CD? If so, did you burn it as a .iso? Sorry for the basic questions, but most of the install problems come from not burning a .iso image.

All are stable. As fas as ease-of-use, Ubuntu or pclinux. Gentoo tends to take a bit more patience. Also easy to use are Linux mint and damn small linux (if not very basic).

Yeah, I know, but I'd barely call it Linux.
