Okay... I don't know alot about computers or anything like that.
But i have been wanting to make my own computer and i have
been looking at some things and would like to know if they would
be good or even work lol

Processor
CPU Cooler
Motherboard
Video Card
RAM

These are just a couple of things i've found. Not Everything.

I would also like to know what else would be good for a great
gaming computer.

Ok, lets start out here by saying, the Motherboard is X58, which is intel for the core i7 cpu's, not a phenom II;). Could help you out with a list of parts that would be in your price range, and then modify it for your needs if you post a budget/what your gonna use the rig for;)

Okay, well it would mainly be a gaming computer and
my price range is within $2,000 - $2,500 tops.

And i want at least
3.0 cpu
4gigs ram
1gig video card

Oh wow... thanks!
thats alot more help than i expected :D

Well, go through the list and if you have anything you wanna change/dont like case, would prefer core i7 over amd, nvidia over ati, etc just post up and ill try to get you some links to such;)

well just for starters the Mobo you picked out wont fit the CPU you picked out. make sure your gear is either all AMD or all intel. dont let people fool you too much about core i7, it really is the fastest but the software market hasnt really kept up with the hardware market. quadcore CPU's will rarely use all 4 cores because very little software supports it. if you have 2500 just laying around then hey go ahead but as of now its not worth its price just yet. And yes to everyone who will post on this realize that i7 has 4 physical cores and 4 HT or virtual cores.

quadcore may not be fully utilized with one application - but when multitasking - and O/S / virus protection / etc - all 4 cores are used. I"ve seen all 4 cores running on my PC using core temp as a visible display. Yes - they are used at a small percentage of their processor power - but they're all being used.

I like the idea of 4 cores running at low levels - vs 2 cores pushing a bit harder. It's more of a forward looking lifespan for my i7 cpu :good:
