Making a slide show movie etc.?

Hi,
I am the creator of the Geometry Wars Guide. Click and I want to make it more professional. Currently I use OpenOffice for the slides and Windows movie maker for the slide show production. But I would like to have the video more professional, say when you get to the url I would like a background screen with options like:
*Start
*about
*etc.
and I would like them to all be interactive, so when you click start the movie starts and plays and when you hit about a page displays who made the movie etc. How would I achieve this?
*also how would I be able to insert an arrow button after each slide --> so that when the user feels that he has read the screen that he can just press --> and go to the next slide?
Would I use flash?
Is there anything free/cheap that can get this done?

Thanks always,
JTM

I didn't try your site because I'm on a modem but what you want to do should be possible with javascript. I don't use much javascript so I can't give exact details.

The slides can be controlled with some script. The addition of links for next, about etc would override the automatic changing. The "about" for example could open a new small window over the main window.

There's no easy way to do this. Software like Macromedia Captivate (not cheap) can make slideshows with play control buttons but for max flexibility javascript would be better. Lots of guides and scripts available on the Web for the basics and working scripts. I just Googled "javascript slideshow" and got a bunch. Browse and pick out ones that you can modify for your use.
