Making A Webpage

Hello everybody

I want to learn how to make a simple webpage, that works on computers, tablets, and smart phones.

I want it to be secure so that I can sell things on it.

What would I need to learn to make a simple site such as;

https://www.gyroscope.com/

Even more complicated;

http://www.nike.com

or even a video hosting site such as youtube

I live in south australia, by the way, so does anybody know of any courses that would cover everything? tafe? uni? wea?

If not in a classroom setting, how would I go about learning everything required at home, and what programs do I need to know?

Thank you

I am building a website right now (literally as we speak!) on Adobe Muse - I highly recommend checking it out! You can build sites without coding. http://www.adobe.com/uk/products/muse.html

You can easily build sites for desktop, smartphone and tablet with that. I got it with my Adobe CC subscription.

I learned it by reading Adobe Muse Classroom in a Book and doing the exercise files the book comes with. I completed the whole book in 2 days. The Classroom in a Book series from Adobe are fantastic!

It's probably easier than Dreamweaver, I looked at that link that Spirit provided. Looks really good.

It is easier than Dreamweaver. I have used both.

What took me several weeks and a lot of reading to accomplish in Dreamweaver I did in two days with Muse. And I made mobile and tablet versions of my site on Muse.

If you want to check out the Muse site I did, check out http://www.bidwell-joinery.co.uk. Visit it on your smartphone and tablet and it should take you to the mobile versions.

It's a relatively simple website I made for a client with not a lot of content, but you get the idea. I originally made it in Dreamweaver months ago but remade it in Muse over the weekend. It was so easy and fun! :)

The next site to convert to Muse is this one http://www.browntech.co.uk - this is the website for my father's IT business that I made in Dreamweaver.

Depends how good you are at coding, as Dreamweaver requires code.
Correct.

If you love design and want to make a website by dragging and dropping content, then go with Muse.

If you can code and want to make a website by code or want to learn to code websites, then go with Dreamweaver or Sublime Text.

I found coding sites good fun and I am taking coding classes at school now, but I like the 'hassle-freeness' and design elements of Muse, so I am sticking with that for web design I think.

How is Dreamweaver when working on a Bootstrap based website? Has anyone got any experience?

No idea. Not used it with those sites. If you want to find out I guess you can download and install a trial of it and see?
